Nothing can make that shitty dithered hair look good, don't kid yourself, and VaM's coded like ass so it starts shitting itself the moment you try to use trilight illlumination or any sort of complex lighting, it chugs incredibly hard for what it is, there's really no reason for being such a massive performance hog considering how bad it looks and how fucking buggy its physics engine is.
I can praise the depth of mesh modeling (if it wasn't fucking retarded and made worse by its godawful UI) but as a whole and as a piece of software it's frankly terrible, even Illusion games look and perform better out of the box somehow.

not all hair looks terrible in VAM but a lot of it does i grant you, and you're right about the rest as well.
you can manage to take good screens with it or use rendertomovie to render out an animation (though the way timeline or the rendering works it's very hard to make it come out at the right speed when the fps tanks)
