The only outside games they've published on steam are Garry's mod and the half-life spin offs. Why is some random game with no attention from a fresh dev getting published by them? Is this gabes sons game or something?

Because they're con artists and don't care about fans of any games, Artifact for example.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
