The absolutely disastrous launch soured people's opinions enough that they never went back to give it a second shot. It also quickly became a meme to poke fun at the game and memes typically don't die quickly.

it's a solid 5/10 from me but for me that's not a terrible score since I'm not a game journalist

I do think the story was a bit dissapointing but I liked it better than RDR 2 which was so fucking dragged out and had an awful ending to boot.

If you were expecting an RPG, then you didn't get an RPG. People were expecting Fallout NV: Cyberpunk Edition, or VtMB but instead of vampires it's Cyberpunk. What we got was worse than GTA5.
If I didn't expect an RPG I might have liked it.

I played the game on launch without patching and my first playthrough took 130 hours according to the ingame time.

Even the cyberpunk themes were shallow as fuck, I expected the witcher 3 levels of exploration and quests and got nothing.

So? I played the game on launch without patching and I played 3 full playthroughs with each life path and took a screenshot of every single moment to the point i have 50 gbs of screenshots of Cyberpunk right now.

The game is still garbage and doesn't do anything right.

actually a lot of people had heard of it. just because you hadn't didn't affect the game's marketing and expectations. yeah, a lot of people probably heard of cyberpunk for the first time via this game, but even if you did, you then learned at least something about the original pen and paper game, if only by chance. even if you learned that it WAS a pen and paper game, you probably had some preconceived notions about what sort of RPG elements it may have

without that IP, there are no real expectations, except maybe that it should have some neon lights and kanji in it. isn't that sort of obvious? what was the point of this call-out?

It felt as futuristic as GTA. They didn't put any effort on the culture, clothes, weapons nor vehicles.

Calling people "chumbas" instead of "homies" doesn't make a game cyberpunk. And shitting on a chink corporation doesn't make it a futuristic dystopia either.

Also they put zero effort in body augmenation which is what CYBER PUNK is all about.

No it absolutely wasn't, you've got sprinkles here and there but it doesn't go beyond you being able to have different cyber arms.

I bought it via retail and installed it with the GOG offline patcher. I didn't encounter any bugs aside from one NPC always T posing in the mox strip club, and one time I had to reload a save because the game kept crashing in a certain spot which only made me lose 5 mins or so. I didn't bother patching because those were the only mayor bugs I ever saw.

None, just a few pics here and there of my V's feet and that's it. The penis model is pretty bad, specially if you pick uncircumsized, and "BIG" is pretty small.

It was shit on launch and most people just gave up back then due the bad taste in the mouth, but several patches later, it's better.
I'm giving it another year before taking a dive.
