I don't think steam is rated at all user

Yes it's a detriment to video games industry

What does that even mean?

>it's a detriment to video games industry
how so ?

of course it is. For many it's the only way to play (good) games on PC since pirating is so """"""hard"""""""

Sales use to be better

its a straight upgrade from console stores with more features and services, user reviews alone keep me coming back, not to mention fast dls, free cloud saves, free remote play, free workshop, all things consoles do worse and charge for. so no, not overrated. you dont need it ofc but it sure as hell is convenient.
this is the only complaint I have but this isn't Steam's fault, just use isthereanydeal.com or gg.deals

steam went to shit the moment they decided that everyone can just put their game on there without quality control
now you have to dig through tons of shit until you find something remotely interesting

The irony of it all being steam made piracy easier than ever.

How could they be overrated

Gabe knew what he was doing.

Why do people pretend Steam Greenlight was good?

They're underage.

Helped bring PC gaming back from death. Hasn't had any real problems or PR nightmares to speak of. I'd say it's pretty good.

steam250.com/

It's was better than what we have now.
At least there was some control over the garbage that got put into the store.

so filter that "garbage" out, that's what a store should be, not dictated by some pink haired tranny "moderator" in san francisco.

Good games for an affordable price, so no.

>based on ratings
sure love to dig through all the coom and fanservice shit because weeaboos spam good reviews for memes

they dont?

poor baby he saw anime tits :'( want me to call your mom? kys retard.

see no other steam thread so ill ask here.
Whats the best game for 2 dollars or less got some leftover change on my account. Leaning towards duke nukem but its that shitty cut re release so better off pirating any game suggestions?

Read the thread.

it had the 'illusion' of being good, but in reality it was a ton of false promises and lies like kickstarter.
exactly. i'd rather have the open platform than it all being AAA and troon indie games

>buyfag

>all of the generic recommendations you've seen and played a million times already
>all those vns and porn games under "hidden gems"
>"needy streamer overload" as one of the "best" games of 2022
Am I supposed to take this site seriously?

if you dont give me a better suggestion randy pitchford is gonna get my two dollars to snort crack on tile floors

>LE SIGH ITS JUST RECOMMENDING ME GOOD GAMES LE SIGH
and yes, it's based off user reviews. if you dont like it dont get it.

It's decent because it kinda "just works".

I recently tried to pirate various command and conquer generals "repacks", and they are all dysfunctional, and whine about my OS not having directX 8.1.
So normies pay steam to avoid this type of headache.

It made pc gaming relevant again and it took the magic out of consoles

>"just works".
user thats console

Would you prefer it being with only games game j*urnalists consider good?

yes

Dunno about overrated but if it works, it works. I still pirate too btw.

I only use steam for the achievements and so my introvert self can show my accomplishments to anyone who looks at my profile. i haven’t unlocked that ability yet though :(
