Because you're only paying attention to his outward comedy style. Watch some other stuff with him in it, like IT crowd and shit. He does a very specific flavour of irony. I used to hate him and The Mighty Boosh but I gave them all a chance because of the GF and I really enjoyed (TMB) it. Season2 was 10x better than season 1 though.
