Generations is genuinely pretty good, especially if you want to 100% it, and Sonic Mania is one of the greatest 2d platformers of all time. I would pay full price for a game that's just a shitload of the Chaos Emerald stages from Mania. Plus, Adventure 2 and Heroes weren't great but weren't utter shit like most other Sonic games that came after.

Because everyone has a completely different idea of what makes a Sonic game good, some people think that Sonic can't be very good, and there's no point trying to please people who refuse to be pleased. Why not just cater to autists and kids? They're easier to please.

Generations and Mania were alright, and Adventure 2 has its moments. Everything else is forgettable. I don't know why people pretend to like Colors.

We were just coming out of the late 00s Dark Age and people had enjoyed the Days Stages from Unleashed and Sonic Colors was basically just an entire game of that combined with the most actual platforming in a 3D Sonic game in years revolving around the Whisp Powerup gimmicks. Also the music was great and the writing was considered very comedic at the time.
