why would they end Kiryu's story with a game where he has a different moveset than all his other games?

Something about the physics of this Dragon Engine just seems off.
The animations of punches and kicks and general combat look fine on their own, but whenever I see it all in action it just feels weird.
I can't quite put my finger on it. It's like gravity feels different. See that bike when Kiryu falls on it? The physics seems like it's on the Moon.

this gameplay of one of the weaker Yakuza systems is still so much fucking better than Like A Dragon.
At a certain point I started having a character get stuck on geometry while walking up to do an attack in every fucking battle. Not to mention barging into your teammates in the overworld all the time. Or the fact that Ichiban does all that stupid generic anime shit like making the "OOOAAAAH" sound when he eats anything.

I just got done playing Yakuza on the Ps2, no it fucking isn't. 2 is, however.

that's also the reason why the end of Kiryu's story doesn't have anything to do with the rest of the series and you only see the old characters for like 5 minutes.

Yeah, it's way too "animation focused." It still baffles me that only the final hit in a regular attack string is capable of killing enemies.

All Yakuza games have trash gameplay.

The game is clearly unfinished, with incomplete Kamurocho and bare bones combat missing some features that have been available since the first game

why is dragon engine so fucking bad? Just compare the original ryuji fight with the kiwami one, how did they fuck it up so badly?

Because it was a complete downgrade from all the previous games & the only focus was that dumb baby
