Now that I think about it, sonic frontiers would be much better if it were a sonic and the black knight sequel/reboot. Think about it, the "generic green planes" map would fit the medieval thing they were going for, and the combat would be better if sonic had a sword.

It fucking sucks, I played the first few stages and turned it off. The main gimmick of the game, the sword, slows you down when you use it. That's fucking insane. Also the spinning rotating synchronised boars that disappear directly in front of you was the worst thing I've ever seen in a game.

you actually do go fast with the sword but you need to use it well, there's a special attack you can use that has sonic homing buzzsaw attack through lines of enemies (this is different to the regular buzzsaw attack)

You'll go faster if you do a short jump forward and then attack, so you're moving as you attack. You can also often just jump over enemies and ignore them outright. I remember being turned off by the start of the game too, but it did get better.
