They said they were going to release new information about the game along the year, in celebration of the original game's 25th, but it's Square so you never know. Same thing about Ever crisis, it's been more than a year and not a peep about it.

Those two games are being made by completely different team. They barely affect eachother. FF7R could easily come out late 2023.

She and her home country will play a larger role down the line though. The biggest sidequest in the original is about her, and in the remake it will definitely be made part of the main story and expanded.
She's also the only girl to kiss Cloud on screen in her date scene, for what it's worth. Not that he gives a damn about her.

I really hope part two covers post-Midgar all the way to Ancient City/North Crater but maybe I'm stupid and optimistic.
The nightmare scenario is it ends in freaking Junon and we have to wait another 3-4 years to get to Nibelheim.
At the very least I hope 7-2 lets us control Sephiroth during the flashback in Kalm and his limit break is Hell Gate.
