I actually really do. I thought the threads here were just people who thought it was cool to fuck bees and shilled the game because of it.
But I recently bought the physical version for the Switch and it's one of the best games I've played in a long time. There's obvious Unity jank (especially with the overworked puzzles that use character abilities). But the core gameplay and the world/characters are way more endearing than I could have ever expected. I'm on Chapter 4 now and can't remember the last time I've had this much fun with a game.

Yes and no. I like it being a proper Paper Mario game, but they put too many annoying tropes into each of the main characters and made them obnoxious with their character traits. I'm on the fifth or sixth chapter and my second time dropping the game.

I really enjoyed it but I was hoping there'd be more mystery behind the roaches, they just show up and don't really do anything, and on another note, what the hell was that thing in the Giants Lair?
I've still to give it another playthrough with the hard difficulty medals and in that I'll do all the side quests I missed.

The world, characters, and story are good, and it has a lot of content for the price
But it copies way too much from Paper Mario in terms of visuals and gameplay, which makes it feel really bootleg and derivative
I hope they make a sequel someday, but I also hope it moves away from the Paper Mario inspiration

No. It rips off Paper Mario in every conceivable way but manages to do everything worse and far less interesting.
The characters are good though.

yeah I thought it was pretty fun. a littler rough around the edges in some spots, but you could tell it was a labor of love. the characters were fun too and I hope it gets a sequel someday
