it doesn't look as good as SH1 but I'd say aside from the MC design and some of the animations we've seen it actually looks like a decent enough game.

SMT V is one of the best games in the series though. I wish it kept half the stuff from V, the elaborate fusion animation, field demons with unique modeled attacks, huge open environments with multiple paths.

the die was cast right then and there. SMT IV was the last truly good SMT game, and mostly because of kaneko. its a shame really. SMT used to be the best jrpg franchise that was still alive and true to itself

its not contrarianism, i played the game. Nocturne, IV and IV:A are much better games than SMT V
