Is it true that installing Linux on an old computer will boost its performance? I have a spare an old computer that has ancient specs and I've been thinking of using it again

In the sense that Linux uses less resources than Windows does

yeah it is. because linux isnt bloated. or is at least only as bloated as you want it to be.

Installed pop os and went back to win 10 within the same day, it was fast at launching stuff I give you that but the gui was buggy as fuck, constantly crashing.

I'm so glad all those clickbait blogs recommend shit distros like popos and arch derivatives
nothing else is more effective at keeping the retards out

get a distro that runs xfce or lxde/lxqt.

imo slackware ia actually good for old machines but it comes with a LOT of shit so you need a big drive for it.

you know you can swap to any DE on any distro right?

if the guy never played with linux, that's not 100% foolproof or trivial.

you just install it and relog

yeah, then you're stuck with pulling out the old DE or the new DE if you don't like it.

i've done it on arch and i think i might still have xfce packages floating around in there.

>Linux machine
It's a GNU/Linux distro. Linux is a kernel snd GNU/Linux an OS.

dependency chain should get rid of them if you installed just the base session package to get it going
can also query pacman for anything with xfce in the name to wipe those out

that doesn't always work. an example is stuff like the garcon library. also if doing it on apt, it'll probably pull out all of Xorg.

How good are visual novels on linux?

damn I guess apt sucks :(

only thing i've seen that doesn't work on Linux is Halo Infinite

I jerk off to hentai games at least twice a day so I consider myself an expert on the topic
I expected to encounter some jank japanese engine that doesn't work in wine at some point but I haven't yet
