People datamined the original JP release and found various voice lines labeled "DLC" for certain characters, indicating they might have been optional marriage candidates. However, the game sold like shit in Japan so those plans were shelved. Xseed had nothing to do with it, and in fact they dubbed those same datamined voice lines in the datamine of the international release. Speaking of, the international release sold well.
