Presentation almost feels like it's channeling Golden Sun.

I understand its going to a "first person" perspective to emulate the old games, but it just makes it look lazy like they don't want to animate actual character animations.

If big companies are going to do retro style games, they should give them budgets and do impressive sprite work and animation quality. "Going retro" is not an excuse to give a game an indie game budget and quality.

Yuji Horii mentioned recently that DQ12 is still in development and things are going well. He ignored 3 completely.

Story is great, its impressive how simple, yet compelling it is. The characters and world, while cartoony, feel pretty real. Also the sprites are great
