Sony realized what MS did ages ago but it is still funny that people don't understand why do they copy Xbox now. It is all about money, it was always about money. No matter how much a console sells, only a fraction of the users buy the games. Now that games are more expensive than ever the only way to make more profit is to release everything everywhere and move from single player to multiplayer. Sony could only afford the PS4 era games because they were kings. Now that they do a bit worse there is suddenly no money in it anymore. They have a large income but they profit margins are actually very low. They need to spend a shitload of money to get a bit more. They have to cut back. This will hurt the braindead console warriors who tied their entire personality to exclusivity but they don't care. The majority of their userbase just want a relatively cheap and simple box for their multiplat needs.

The best Sony games sold like 20 million one time purchases on a console close to that sold 115+ million without any real competition. Most of the Sony games could barely break 10 million. Now that MS is doing something it is unlikely this will happen again. That leaves with them at least 90+m people who bought the PS to play multiplats and online.
