2007 was the last great year for video games, which makes sense since it was the last of the 20th century leftovers (2001-2007). 2008 had some really good games too (Brawl, GTA IV, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, Dead Space) but it wasn't stacked like 2007 was. 2009 was when video games officially did IMO because that was when mobile games blew up.
