Now that the dust has settled, can we agree that three protagonists was a blunder and the story was entirely forgettable?

Yes, the game should have been solely about Franklin rising from rags to riches and reclaiming the glory and territory of Grove Street.
At most, Trevor and Michael should have been DLC protagonists as in Episodes From Liberty City.

Yeah I prefer GTA IV to V but I just wish there was a firstperson mode for IV.

I do. I try to play the online mod on PC but it's all Russians and third worlders nuking the servers constantly.

Online? I think there's still a way to get into servers on PC, but console versions are officially dead. Shame too, GTA IV multiplayer is criminally underrated, the amount of fun you could have in that city was unparalleled at the time.

I think Michael was originally supposed to be the sole protagonist. In one of the interviews, Dan Houser stated that Michael was the first character that he conceptualized, that he was supposed to represent a traditional GTA protagonist post-GTA after having pulled off a big heist and having retired.
But somewhere down the line some fucking monkey decided it should have three characters instead.

Unless you're on PS don't bother. PC GTA is full of hackers and Xbox GTA is full of subhuman apes who literally just spend all day blowing up people for no reason.

i was invested up until the jewellery store heist, when trevor gets introduced i think everything takes a nosedive.

rockstar loves quantity over quality, i'm sure it was added just for more circlejerk and to boast their game had three protagonists.

It's almost comical how bad Trevor was and how cringeworthy his entire inclusion was in the game. He was literally just some Reddit fanfic, lol, it was so on-the-nose it was painful.
The fact they made him some homoerotic bisexual rapist (FOR DIE LULZ!) was really the icing on the cake.
