How come EVE with all those great stories, happenings, being a space game and so on still only has 30.000 players? Why aren't the numbers greater? You'd think people would be all over a sci fi game like this. But apparently it fails to attract new people and make them stay.

There's the potentially greatest conflict in all of the game going on whenever, and all that suggests for most of the gaming industry is neat news. ..I would advertise for this game a lot if SP would just nullify. What is a sandbox MMO where every profession and other playstyle is behind payments?

hmm

Because is sucks and the developers cater exclusively to the absolute worst form of gameplay, nullblobs, because it's good publicity. Eve is fundamentally a numbers game, player skill is irrelevant when someone can hot drop 30 Capitals on you. Logistics are irrelevant when you can buy everything in high sec then teleport it to anywhere in the universe for minimal cost.

It burned out years ago.

It was fun in the early days when people got IRL mugged and stuff. It's boring and gay now.

It's literally just playing a spreadsheet, and about as much fun for everyone else in the human race, hence the 30k total players (i.e the few who enjoy spreadsheets).

Player skill is still as relevant as ranged vs. near is.

3D ARPG, MOBA, or RTS gameplay is still as fun as ever.

>still only has 30.000 players?
logged in, yeah
actual player base is easily 5x that.
the game is catered towards married 30yo+ Dads who can only play 2~6 hours a week.
>Why aren't the numbers greater?
same reasons as games like Dwarf Fort, SS13 etc.
people THINK its much much harder than it actually is.
when you break it down, Eve's literally no different to like World of Tanks except you have to manually buy and haul your respawns to where you need them.

Remember, CCP still have their Eve Fanfest every year but even mega-huge companies like Blizzard cant afford to have them anymore.

>le Skillpoint argument
mate like 90% of the game takes place in Cruisers or smaller, which you can fly in the first week.
>behind a paywall
now you're just pretending to be retarded

>the developers cater exclusively to the absolute worst form of gameplay, nullblobs,
they dont though?
they're actively trying to do away with bittervets and Ishtar Orbiting and pushing the game towards being difficult, co-op PVE content.
cant wait for the salty tears when all the old AI is finally stripped out and replaced with the new Diamond Rat AI

zoom zooms don't give a shit about sci fi and especially not about space

fuck the negativity, post cool EVE shit

>logged in, yeah
>actual player base is easily 5x that
150k players -- who cares?

>people THINK its much much harder than it actually is
I don't want to hear about orbiting-F1 gameplay.

>>le Skillpoint argument
>mate like 90% of the game takes place in Cruisers or smaller, which you can fly in the first week
You're not arguing the most fun gameplay, which is basically only the Slicer; and you're not allocating the difficulty and prevalence difference between small ships and faction.

>they're actively trying to do away with bittervets and Ishtar Orbiting and pushing the game towards being difficult, co-op PVE content.
>cant wait for the salty tears when all the old AI is finally stripped out and replaced with the new Diamond Rat AI
Are you on about small ships click-moving officers? That's the only gameplay that matters; everybody wants to be rich.

Albion Online is objectively the better full loot MMORPG. Just move on. Eve is old and the devs don't care. Nice Excel spreadsheet support you got there.

>who cares?
150k more players than your shitty game.
just on current log-in numbers alone, Eve would sit around the 20th most played game on Steam, beating out shit like Cyberpunk, Valheim and Civ

>dont wanna hear about orbiting-F1 gameplay
cool, cuz its dying out

>only the slicer is good
cuz you're a small brain pvp-let

>AI
nah talking about the AI you get at FOBs and in event sites. that you cant just kite to death because they warp to a ping then warp to you at zero
CCP Dragon did an interview laying out their plans for the new AI, gunna be cool with the mission overhaul and FW overhaul in a few months

just admit that you either got filtered or that you're a washed-up 2006 bittervet that's buttmad he cant triple-box super rat anymore

>post cool EVE shit
gotchu, wish i had more webms tho

Because it's a bad game. As is always the case with "muh story generator" "games".

These are stupid;

A). Nobody does that;
B). Bounties aren't automatic.

EVE is objectively the most 3D game in existence; that's where stimulation and thus fun are.

For .

>150k more players than your shitty game.
Any full sandbox MMO could be better than a skills-system (leveling) MMO.

>the 20th most played game on Steam
>beating out shit like Cyberpunk, Valheim and Civ
>SP and barely-multiplayer nonsense.
Who cares?

>cool, cuz its dying out
What else besides the Slicer is ranged?

Inb4 drones.

>cuz you're a small brain pvp-let
I don't want to play faction frigates / etc., everytime I go out.

>that you cant just kite to death because they warp to a ping then warp to you at zero
CCP Dragon did an interview laying out their plans for the new AI, gunna be cool with the mission overhaul and FW overhaul in a few months
Feel free to mention a forum post or video.

>just admit that you either got filtered or that you're a washed-up 2006 bittervet that's buttmad he cant triple-box super rat anymore
My only complaint is that A). content is the most correlative criticism of MMOs and small subscription amounts (and thus concurrent players), and B). SP is the most problematic of this; there's approximately nothing to do because there's approximately no accessibility to roles.

What are you doing each hour of every day that you're complimenting a subcription MMO with 26y or $6.5k of payments?

>150k players -- who cares?
150k people who actually give a fuck about their game is still a large amount of people. all of them are hardcore addicts cause eve weeds out the casuals pretty damn fast.
i dont think you could find 150k wow players who arent burnt out even with supposed millions subscribed. same for final fantasy.

It's almost 20 years old. All the players are old grumpy men who don't even like it anymore. It is a one of kind game but all the fun is a massive time investment away from where a new player starts.

newfag outs himself
>A). Nobody does that;
both of these stories actually happened (well, the second one is a little embellished)
>B). Bounties aren't automatic.
not NOW they arent, the bounty system has changed a lot over the years

the real issue is that most of normie brainlets that make up the vidya industry these days are either looking for
>a WoW clone with grinding dailies and being insta-warped to instanced raid content
or
>they THINK they want a sandbox but really they want to be railroaded while having the ILLUSION of a sandbox.
especially the latter.

so many people get past the tutorial knowing that they can do LITERALLY ANYTHING, but quit cuz they dont have the imagination or creativity to find/do/exploit content that they enjoy
not to mention people are too used to being coddled and babied in other games, expecting perfectly safe instances and all that.
they cant wrap their head around a game where you can scam someone out of all their shit, call them a niggerfaggot and leave without being punished for it

Attached: 1489082808860.jpg (3818x1034, 1.31M)

>but all the fun is a massive time investment away from where a new player starts.
untrue newfaggot bullshit from someone who probably hasnt played in a decade

It's the only game being even harder than dota2 for new players

>>cool, cuz its dying out
>What else besides the Slicer is ranged?

Slicer is in a category of ships where the ship gets better and better, to the point of being overpowered if you have good manual piloting skills.
slicer is fast as balls with a range bonus, meaning you can bait cunts into trying to 5v1 you, kite them around and pick them off one at a time.
other similar ships are the Stabber and the Vagabond.

this, zoomies and casualfags hate that there's no perfectly safe space in Eve.
RL buddy of mine literally quit after 2 years of playing cuz he got ganked while mining 1 (one) time.
dude just wants to chew thru space rocks in a singleplayer game in his own private little bubble safespace

there have been one or two women who somehow, against all odds, managed to fire up enough neurons to play eve
most were unhinged though, and definitely not marriage material

the main youtube/stream weekly Eve politics/happenings news source is literally a 50yo blonde woman with fake tits
