Does anyone on Any Forums play actual rogue-likes?
Roguelike
yeah mostly tome.
i don't really want to talk to you though
>actual roguelikes
Let me guess, if I name one, you'll say it doesn't fit your hyperspecific definition that 5 people in the whole world use.
i will always vouch for Angband. and Diablo
Figured.
Yeah /vg/ has a roguelike general that's fairly active and they'll tell you to fuck off if you post about a roguelite.
only Rogue itself and CotN
HOW DO I GET INTO NETHACK WITHOUT BEING AUTISTIC
yeah like you were deprived of anything because he wants a traditional roguelike thread. like you were really gonna start happily talking about your action roguelikes and roguelites if he said otherwise. you're just out to be an asshole. that's all it is. yeah not a lot of people play traditional roguelikes, that's why specifying that that's actually what they want to talk about is a good idea,
don't be a faggot. he didn't come into your thread about roguelikes and start fagging it up with a semantics argument or a definitions argument. you fucking did.
There's a GUI frontend for Nethack that will let you play like this. It's on Steam these days I think.
>broque
What is this, some gay indie rip-off of Baroque?
Know any non garbage mobile ones? This may be unanswerable, but I have to try.
I don't really need a GUI, I'm fine with ASCII, I just can't be bothered with having a second screen open to interact with the game and memorizing like fifty keys. Is there a version that lets me just click on stuff and play with the mouse?
>he didn't come into your thread about roguelikes and start fagging it up with a semantics argument or a definitions argument
Claiming "actual roguelikes" are only turn-based is the definition of semantic definition arguments, because nobody uses words like I was going to ask about games similar to Rogue because I like roguelikes and wanted to check out some stuff more like its origins, but I can't stand losers who act high and mighty because they play "the TRVE genre games dood".
Shattered Pixel Dungeon maybe? It has no ads too, only thing you can optional buy are support bundles for the developer. Payed version is also on Steam. Still it's the same version as for phones that is for free.
You don't need it, it takes couple of days to learn it. Enable the numpad for diagonal movement
>s = search
>o = open
>i = inventory
>q = quaff - drink
>W/w = wield/wear
>r = read
>e = eat
>control + k = kick
># are extended commands which include #pray, #dip, #engrave, #options etc
>. = wait
You only need a handful. If you think you need to use the 'jklmn' vim style keys for movement, that's much harder. Check your nethack.cnf or whatever the file was called for more options.
Just stick with it, it's still a lot easier to remember than dwarf fortress for example.
I had to stop playing Qud because it was destroying my life, it's even more addicting than UnReal World.
Uh, isometric Nethack is quite something, it also has a very nostalgic mid 90 charm to it.
The easiest way to say you want to play Rogue-likes without being a prententious asshole about it is asking for Traditional Roguelikes
I played brogue on the school computers in middle school it was great
Roguelites are a better genre in every conceivable way and boomers will seethe until the end of time that the only reason the genre isn’t dead is because of the success of roguelites like Binding of Isaac
The issue is that I'm using a non QWERTY keyboard so I'll have to either play super unintuitively or switch to QWERTY and remember what physical button corresponds to what virtual button which honestly feels more like work than enjoyment.
How do you not get killed by Ogres and Centipedes after Depth 10?
necrodancer > gungeon > wizard of legend > noita > spelunky > dead cells > issac
why arent you using qwerty?
Because I'm not Anglo...
yeah actual roguelikes
