No, it embeds a hash in the png header and if you have the extension it loads the image alongside the original image

no, according to what i read on the archive, it just contains a link inside the image that a special extension looks for then displays it, it does not show up to anyone who doesn't have the extension, but you still might get arrested for spreading it

You download image A which has multiple embedded links to a booru for images B, C, and D. Every time you repost image A, people with the addon will see image B, C, and D which could be anything.

But you unfortunately can hide links in them.

you can't anymore, but the extension uses a new method of embedding a link to another image hosted on catbox or wherever. then the extension automatically loads all the embedded links

Literally don't save images in the foreseeable future, and don't click on questionable threads.

I'd also like to know. the usual tools just check for actual embedded files, not a link that's meant to be opened by a separate extension.

Any Forums should probably just re-encode all images at this point, rather than trying to validate them. Maybe an exception for boards where image quality is very important (/p/, /hr/, etc).
