The gays and lesbians I know hate the trans shit. They see it as them riding their coattails while doing everything they can to both erase gayness (if you’re gay, you’re really just trans!) and provide terrible optics for the cause. They are right to do so; it’s tough to not look at the timeline of gay marriage being legalized to trans acceptance and not see that activists simply moved to a new cause. It makes sense tho - these activists built businesses and organizations that solely existed to represent minority interests and lobby for change. They made a lot of money doing that. Can’t just stop when you get what you want done. Numbers go up!
