What am I in for?
Should I just play System Shock instead, never played an immersive sim before but got the itch after reading up about the genre a bit.

Shotgun is best gun

Game's weapon variety isn't that great. But it has a couple of gadgets that are fun to mess around with to outsmart your enemies, as that's what the game wants you to do. Shotgun with the appropriate perks is what allows you to just plow through most enemies with ease, even on harder difficulty settings.

These are the available tools/weapons in the base game. The DLC added a laser sword

A fun game. Don't be afraid of using neuromods, you'll get plenty throughout the game. The gloo gun is a lot of fun to use don't sleep on it. Same with grenades.

A few tips, pick the recycling yield and typhoon organ harvest neuromods ASAP, it will make a big difference since resource management is a big part of the game.

Great immersive sim just don't pay too much attention to the story because it's arguably the only shitty part of the game to the point where it might even ruin your experience

you're in for a fantastic game and one of the few greatest games of the previous gen. savour it, they will never make anything like that in next several years or maybe even decades.

The game will tell you that there are downsides to picking alien abilities. There aren't. Pick whatever seems fun.

Went through the game without picking a single alien ability and I had a blast, the game is piss easy regardless of what you pick

The only aspect where 2006 beats 2017 is in the story, but then again pretty much any game has a better plot than 2017's sad attempt at making some sort of meta commentary

I wish they made a sequel centered around Tommy's adventures like they teased at the end of the game, and not the actual Prey 2 with a literally who bounty hunter

a banger of a game, and likely arkanes last true imsim. guns are more like tools then just killing machines and the level design breathes soul. Best advice i can give is

don't dismiss the foam dart gun as a gimmick, the darts work on buttons, screens and distracts enemies

don't spend all your neuromods, always have some saved up if you need another skill upgrade

scavenge around for any recyclable material you can find. i like to bring around a crate/briefcase around places i know have a lot of gear so i can carry more shit and not constantly backtrack

turn on all subtitles, let's you understand some of the typhon and adds a bit more atmosphere

while the end game does get tedious it's still fantastic. hope your run goes well user
