It was a good game

It was a good game.

no.

*buried under loads and loads of bullshit that I would put upon anyone, and even then, it was only good. Not great.

13, 10, 5 and 1 are the only FF games I had fun playing

Its better than 8 12 and 10

It definitely isn't as shit as people say it is. I didn't have any problems with the gameplay but the characters were annoying as hell. Hope was annoying, Snow was annoying, Fang was annoying.

retard

Fuck no. It's awful and nearly as bad as FF 15. SE hasn't produced a good mainline FF in over 15 years.

>no new IP
starting that early, OP?

Honestly one of the dumbest things I have read on the internet

its true, people who praise older ff are just nostalgiafags who cant even tell you why they prefer the older games

No it wasn't, it was terrible. Hence why XIII-2 was all about trying to fix the shit people hated about it.

But that’s wrong because….it just IS okay!! Just because everything about the second one is radically different than the first in an attempt to get more sales isn’t because everyone despised the first one!

Who else got all the achievements

i want to fuck her face

It's a masterpiece that people didn't want
And what I mean by that is that what the devs made and what the players wanted were different things
SE wanted to build this insane mythology with FNC stuff that eventually fell apart because it didn't get the support it needed from the other games
And the fucking dev hell crippled it, despite the game having a 3/4 year production that is actually short by modern standards
It was supposed to be both a love letter to the saga, and especially FF7, and at the same time a new standard for the series
So you have a great new battle system that is at odds with the lore you made, so you have to wait until chapter 3 to even get magic
But the story is really good, except it starts with a homage to FF7 and now the entire backstory is told through flashbacks instead of linearly
So the the game starts off in the thick of the action and plot but with limited gameplay options, then splits up the party to actually tell you who these guys are basically expanding on the gameplay while the story goes backwards
The graphics are great, so is the CGI, but it's got loads of cutscenes it approaches MGS levels of just walking from cutscene to cutscene and mainly showing off the gorgeous world instead of just letting you play the game
It's just a ton of amazing ideas that are executed in a very unorthodox way

I tried to, but got to the part where you have to farm the giant adamantoise or whatever they are with death and it was so fucking boring I gave up.

>death
The fuck is this pussy strat, real gamer beat them fair and square

I like how strained your comment is in praise. Desperately trying to not say it’s bad, just “unorthodox”, “not what gamers wanted” etc. it’s a bad game, it has earned its spot as one of the worst in the series. It’s perfectly okay you and others like it, different strokes for everyone. But you need to realize that just because you’re willing to overlook the massive flaws of the game, doesn’t mean others are. Your own comment and tortured words trying not to admit the truth prove it.

Missing treasure hunter (getting all weapons and equipment), finishing the crysatilum with all characters, and the platinum

> i dont like it so its bad and one of the worst
u probably havent even played a final fantasy game retard

Because I'm playing devil's advocate for a game I actually love
Basically I'm trying to look for bad things about it but they're all design choices or extremely minor
For example, the linearity that everyone talks about is by design and actually serves the plot and themes
And the characters are really interesting, the problem is that it starts off in the middle of the story
If it doesn't hook you from the beginning, you will not like it because the game goes all in on the characters after the first few hours
It's a story driven game that uses a linear gameplay progression as a way to show the characters growing
It's probably the best case of using the gameplay to tell a story but it sacrifices traditional storytelling to do so
I love it, but I recognize it's not for everyone

Good comeback. “I bet youve never played them!” That doesn’t refute the argument either, by the way. It just desperately tries to assume I have no standing with my argument. Pathetic.

This is better, but it acknowledges the extremely bad storytelling. People hate the characters too, and the method for delivering the story is ham fisted and takes way too long, with way too many cutscenes.
