Entirety of Persona 5 is basically "we wante to make a game about deep and serious topics but then we remembered this is supposed to be anime waifu simulator so we went back on all of that and made a story mess instead".
Like hell, Futaba's Confidant has her talk about her friend who was supposedly BEATEN, ABUSED and SEXUALLY EXPLOITED by her parents ever since she was like 7 and how that might damage her and her relationships and mental health is never, ever addressed.

Shiho's plotline seems like something that was supposed to happen to Ann (since Ryuji was directly harmed by Kamoshida himself), but they probably realized that muh waifu option cannot be damaged goods.

No that's outright wrong. The overarching theme of P5 is the sloth of society. People seeing awful things happening to other people and not doing anything about it. Ann's friend being the one abused while she sits on the side and that being the driver for her becoming a Phantom Thief is completely intentional.

P5 links are the best ones. They are all in theme with the main theme, they have the best variety, the transformation from contracts for some gain to actual blood allies is handled the best, the way each one also has some benefit to the dungeon crawling mechanics you are developing.

P3's are alright though, they're more mechanically bare but they all tie into the main theme like 5's even if some of them are kind of what the fuck in how they encourage you to let your friends all eat shit. 4's are really boring and don't tie into the main theme wrll at all.

P5 > P3 > Diarrea > P4
