I'm watching Star Trek: TNG for the very first time.
What are you guys' favorite episodes and characters from Star Trek?
I've watched a handful of clips of Quark and I honestly cannot wait until I watch DS9, he's everything I've ever wanted in a character. Why is DS9 not as well regarded as TNG?

DS9 is just less popular, every single person I know that likes Star Trek thinks DS9 is the best.
They're also structurally pretty different in that TNG is largely episodic and DS9 has long story arcs which appeal to different people. They're both fantastic.

Don’t forget to watch Enterprise when you are done. It’s right up there with DS9, despite what you may hear. And it has the best theme song.

I think by now it generally is, even if it never reached the mainstream success of TNG. But it's definitely not one you tell people just to get into if they've never watched Trek, since in some ways it's responding to TNG's interpretation of Trek.
