It was a dungeon crawler which already is unpopular, as well as being only on the psp. It was fun and I enjoyed it but the combat was atrocious. However bad you think it is, I assure you it is worse. Play the intro to fate extra and you will quickly see the issue.

The franchise didn't really take off with normie anime fans in the West until the Zero anime and that had barely started airing when F/E came out. I think it would have been much more successful if it had been released a few years later, especially if it were on a more popular platform.
