It's not even the protagonists being female, fine whatever if you can make an interesting unique compelling character, but literally none of them are. They are every bit as generic, cookie cutter disposable as the "grizzled shaved-head white gun guy" cliche they always used to complain about. We just went from one lazy default to another, except this time developers think they're being morally virtuous by doing it.

Because indie games are mostly made by walking stereotypes. These are the types of gape mouthed losers who would have been into beatnik slam poetry 50 years ago before vidya existed. They think seeking womens' approval is a virtue. What better way to do that than to pander to them while making their product?
Pic related, it's the literal Chad of indie games who gets more pussy than he knows what to do with. Notice his game was objectively better, more innovative, and more creative than 99% of this indieshit garbage yet doesn't pander to women even slightly. Pandering to women probably never even occurred to him, most likely he's never heard of Sarky and thinks Resetera is a type of analgesic cream you rub on sore muscles after you've overdone your cardio session.
