Microsoft just came out with Project Acoustics for Unity and Unreal Engine a few days ago.
It's 2004 all over again. We had this shit 18 years ago.

If you like this kind of stuff, you owe it to yourself to play Half-Life Alyx. Having head-tracked sound is unbeatable.
Echo and other effects feels bad, clear voice communication is more important than neat but ultimately unimportant tricks.

Pretty sure lots of games do, or something similar. I think Tarkov is another notable example along those lines, where previously its positional audio was super fucked so they spent a lot of time trying to fix it.

It's a nice technology but I think you necessarily need headphones for it to work and I believe most people are playing with stereo systems from their TVs or something.
Turns out you can't hear shit from 3W TV speakers so people don't care about audio.
