The 1rst version handed out to troops in Vietnam was a bit shitty for the conditions of vietnam, but a huge reason for its notorious reputation was they didn't give out proper maintenance kits, and almost no instructions how to clean them or disassemble them. So that was a big fuckup. The next version fixed came with a standard cleaning kit and instructions, also a more durable chrome plated chamber.
