The eastern boundary is the Delaware River. The northern boundary was won by killing yankees and having the federal government step in to tell them to go back to Connecticut. The wedge in the northwest was a fuck you to New York because we wanted Great Lakes access. The southern (and at the same defined the west) border is the Mason-Dixon line, which is the cultural demarcation of North and South. The semicircle at the southeast is where we allowed Delaware to be independent and borrow some of our clay until it is time to be reclaimed.
