It does some shit I absolutely hate, but still winds up a better game than the 3 before it. So sure, go for it.
Play Gravity Antonion as the third stage to nullify the most horseshit "miniboss" room in the franchise. At least, IIRC it's third stage attempted.

That alone makes it appealing. But Ninja Armor being able to airdash (which makes it not a fucking kick in the dick if you took it on the one Sigma stage it matters the most on) is good too.
I don't see anything un-trapping you with High Max if you accidentally encounter him before you have the necessary weapons though. That's more of an issue to new players so I can see it not being a priority though.
