Aren't Bethesda launcher mods priced?

>VALVE IS LE HECKIN BAD FOR PAID MODS IN SKYRIM!!!
>a few years later Bethesda introduces Creation Club
really makes one think who really was behind paid mods idea
>theyll be back soon enough
Creation Club in Fallout 4 and the latest edition of Skyrim wants to have a talk with you, and these have been out for years

Recently read that one post on f95 about the seething skyrim mod maker where he went on a small rant about how he hates the game and how he will stop modding if people pirate his paid mods.
Gave me a good chuckle.

No, remember the Wilson box?

I do and also remember pic related making me kek hard.

He was right though. Because of that and money he stopped pushing paid mods.

>hates the game
>still makes mods for it instead of moving onto other ventures where he could try to sell his content
modders have become absolutely mentally ill, and it's the reason behind modding scene going to shit

Gabe still sells community made mods on the Steam Marketplace today. He was doing it before Bethesda did paid mods. Worse than sells them. He makes money every single time it changes hands from one party to another. I'm not even sure that legal because there's a thing called the "first-sale doctrine" that says you can't do things like demand a portion of the proceeds from a transaction you are not a party of. It's the same law that prevented the console manufacturers and game developers demanding a piece of the pie from secondhand game sales.

>portion of the proceeds from a transaction you are not a party of
Except he is part of it because they use Steam to make the transaction. This isn't any different from ebay/paypal taking cut from purchases which they do.

nice mental gymnastics

You know the people that make skins for CSGO get paid right?

And? The Bethesda modders would have gotten paid too.

Wait, do you think they're in the employ of Valve? Because they aren't. They've talked about how it works. They make a mod. They submit it to Valve for consideration. If it's accepted it goes into the pool and then they get paid for each time there's a transaction involving it on the Steam Marketplace. They won't say how much because, like a lot thing involving Valve, everyone has to sign an NDA. You know you can trust a company when every single fucking thing anyone ever does with them is locked up tight with NDAs.

They would have even less support nowadays since practically every modder has a patreon now

lmao

Forgot about these fags

kek

Mods are a hobby. If you enter an existing community with the mind to monetise it, either hang yourself or get a fucking job.

t. Cathedral modder.

You now remember the old menus
