Something else in setting that's not a killing game, like UDG. It can still be a VN style mystery game but with a different premise. Trying to make more killing games after 3 is worse than trying to make more Metal Gear after 4.

More gameplay, that's actual gameplay. Way to affect the story, other than just choosing dialog options. Like what if where you are or who you hang around changes the order in who the killer targets. As it is, Dangan Ronpa is just a glorified visual novel. Some people just aren't into VN games.

The natural progression for DR is giving you actual choices and making it non-linear, with different endings, letting you accuse and execute wrong people, or even saving others.
