>why do zoomers hate anything that they have to take time with?

it's just so.. meh.

Anyone with a semblance of taste hates ATB.

atb isn't turn based

Zoomers.

most of the more well known turn bssed games can be completed by children. finding the ones that can't is asking too much of generation ADHD.

I don't know

too easy is boring. too hard is frustrating. and there's just no middle ground. either you're over- or under-leveled. balancing is a bitch, but maybe, just maybe, the whole rpg idea of leveling up is simply dumb to begin with.

we shitposted so hard retard actually bought it and shipped it

I’m a zoomer, and I love it. Better than action combat. I love SMT, but can’t get into Souls at all.

I doubt most children can beat Fallout.

Not this retarded shit again.

Peak jrpg was snes/ps1. Most people here are not even old enough to have had a ps3/x360

It's not a bitch. Just do what Chrono Cross did and put a level cap based on your story progression.

Gen Z is too busy aiming for highscores out in the real world to be held back by video games.

Taking time =/= requiring thought, being genuinely challenging, or being enjoyable. Descriptions that apply to very few turn based combat games.

No but it might as well be the cousin of turn based combat.

because an anime turn based game is the furthest possible a game can be in both aesthetic and gameplay to an interactive flashy western hollywood movie that tries to be """"""realistic""""""
once you notice the closer a game is to a western hollywood movie the more it gets called "good design" a lot of internet arguments will make more sense to you
also atb is not true turn based

Because real time is more engaging and has a higher skill ceiling.

Once a person figures out the optimal choice for turn based combat most of the game turns into a chore.

There is no technical skill coordination or reaction needed to win, no showing off or trying to look flashy any move besides the optimal move is a waste of time.

It's a crutch for people who can't develop good gameplay.

it's too slow

>Most people here are not even old enough to have had a ps3/x360

This is fucking sad if true. What the hell happened to Any Forums?

because it has no depth
because any challenge turn based games have can be solved by killing shitty slimes 100 times to level up and overpower your enemies

>level cap based on your story progression.
that's not a solution, but a hack, and begs the question why there's any leveling at all. might as well get rid of it at this point.

That's not turn-based, that's ATB, aka turn-based's retarded younger brother.

>ATB
>Turn Based
Anyways the reason most turn-based combat is shit is because the vast majority of turn-based RPGs have combat that doesn't actually require thought, planning, or resource management.
For every SMT4, Darkest Dungeon, or DOS2 there are a dozen-dozen turn-based JRPGs where beat every trash fight spamming AoE Blizzinga, get all your HP/MP back at the save point two feet from the Boss room door, and then have a "Boss" fight where you need to remember not to cast Fire spells while the Boss is channeling his secret "Fire spells heal me mwahahaha" ultimate attack.

there's a lot of them that have simple combat that doesn't require much strategy past attacking and healing. Additionally there are people who think that because you could grind for hours as an suboptimal way to beat the game they're bad.

We got old

first the election
then it got big with redditors as "that wacky website"
from that point on it was over

all wrong

nah, there was always a bunch of 15-40 years old since the site opened, it's mostly tourist trying to fit in. Honestly i doubt most oldfags even visit the site anymore considering how garbage threads are thanks to them.

>new game comes out
>has turn-based combat
>Any Forums completely shuns it
Guess why.

>Because real time is more engaging
>because it has no depth
fair points, but it's really the lack of enough degrees of freedom to actually do something fun and surprising. A simple ball game has that, just by the fact that the ball can do many crazy, fun things, and there's randomness, or lack of precision at every single step (might as well call this skill, or expressiveness). RPG battles typically don't allow you to be creative in any way or form, you can't do shit, nothing is gonna surprise you, and basically it's a bore, no fun allowed zone.

"too anime"?

Worry not, for Elden Ring is pretty much a turn based game.

>>new game comes out
>>Any Forums completely shuns it
fixed that for ya

reminder 99% of the time someone calls turn based gameplay boring/obsolete/with no depth they will turn around and praise dogshit souls combat or worse, aaa movie game combat

at least your 0815 shooter allows for free movement/positioning, which alone is already lots of fun and brings a lot of freedom and decision making to the table.

Because they were made with the limitations of the era in mind, and in the modern day now we have actual good action rpgs that made turn based ones obsolete
just think about why mmorpgs died out
why?? because back in the day there were not many good open world games, but now that we have so many good open world games that they made mmorpgs totally obsolete

because video games would be better if you could play them

Any Forums doesn't hate turn based combat, because LISA exists. Done.

I hate this retarded response
go play crystalis faggot

>reminder 99% of the time someone calls turn based gameplay boring/obsolete/with no depth they will turn around and praise dogshit souls combat or worse, aaa movie game combat
they are wrong because??

>aaa movie game combat
because clicking menus and watching your characters do a1 minute animation cutscene awesome sword slash is much better than aaa cinematic walking simulators

retard

You can't move
People love undertale because you can move between turns
yes, that's it, they haven't realized this

only a small majority of shitposters hate turn-based combat.
Real Any Forums actually plays everything, and some of the best games we pick are in fact turn-based.

because it's boring and lazy fucking design?

>they are wrong because??
because both souls games and aaa movie games are the exact same thing they claim jrpgs are, broken jankfests with zero depth that you can easily cheese by grinding defensive stats and doing the same optimal move over and over
it's all projecting
