There needs to be a mandatory salesman guide for mmo marketplaces, too many games ruined by dumb fags with no concept of a market

They don't actually have the item they're advertising, in fact they want to buy it from someone else but don't know how much to offer for it, so they do this to figure out how much others are willing to pay.

You need to pay more, or else....

You're giving them too much credit, they know how much it's worth but hope that you don't and that you'll pay more. I've tried offering people like this the actual market value and I'd still get the same "lol" type of replies.

This place really is a shell of itself

This somehow reminded me of one specific silly bean. Back in the day I was playing Phantasy Star Universe when it had just come out. Early on, one of the most farmed for things was a Nanocarbon, a crafting material used for making decent early forms of armor. They were available in unlimited supply from an NPC vendor, but the price was quite high, so most players either preferred to or had to farm them. And then there was this genius, who farmed the carbons to make money. His reasoning was that since he put the effort in to farm his stuff, it had to be more valuable than the NPC's infinite supply, so he was selling at around 50% higher than the infinite supply. Whenever he wasn't farming, he was camping next to the NPC vendor and yelling at everyone who dared even come near it, claiming they're killing the ingame economy by not valuing his time and effort. He kept this up for almost two months.

Good memories.

Whenever people did this shit in WoW I would offer slightly above what it usually sells for to hook them in and told them to COD it to me and never buy it, leaving it to sit in my mail for 30 days.

For those who don’t know, COD means Cash on Delivery, Meaning they send you the item in the mail and you have to pay for it to take it, however, if you don’t take it after 30 days then it gets sent back to the owner.

Had one guy bug me every day for a week to please send it back and begging me to cancel the COD. The amount of salt I would get for this was amazing.

>offer
>he offers 10x market value
>tell him it's not worth that much and reduce the price out of kindness
>he insists on overpaying

A man of taste! I used to do this too whenever someone tried selling something way above market price haha

lol lmao

They expect you to scam yourself with zero effort on their part.

i do this in PoE because some items are difficult to price

I do this because I know how much my item is worth but I want to see if you're trying to lowball me, and you always do
