fake rng is a mechanic that turns people off as well as being significantly more casual than the original games and their advertising pandering to reddit constantly seals the deal for most here. it's still fun modded

I don't like the art direction but Iike the game

not enough busty bimbos

They didn't play with Long War of the Chosen

Most missions being timed is a major turnoff

>LW

It was a good game. But it had several mechanics that were put in simply to not make it fun. They got the idea from Long War to force recovery periods on professional soldiers. Like, seriously. After a short 2 minute real time mission your squad needs a week of R&R. The idea that psionics are their own class instead of just complementing other classes was BS. The Avatar timer was complete BS, requiring to keep grinding the same shitty missions just to keep going. Or if you were lucky and short on resources, could mean the end of your game. The squad size was too small. They just up and removed everything that made XCOM:EW good, meaning the genetics and their abilities. The research paths were far too linear.

Even with the expansions like the Lost, instead of making them ongoing missions, you get a few story missions and after that you basically never deal with the swarm again. They also rebalanced the classes so you could no longer have powerful solo units like in EW. And let's not forget the consistent bugs that they never patched, that made a true ironman impossible as you couldn't rely on the GUI to tell you when your unit was visible or not, and occasionally let enemies see or shoot you literally through glitched walls and floors.

XCOM:EW had a simplicity that worked. XCOM2 meanwhile did the same thing they continued socially with Chimera Squad: It tried to do everything and please everyone, and resulted in a jumbled mess that could really please no-one.

The only thing XCOM2 did better than EW really, was the extra customization options and it took a little longer for your squad to become too powerful. Everything else was better in EW.

I can't get over the visual design style. It suffers too much for my taste with the StarCraft 2 syndrom, making everything too flashy, too clean, too sharp. Over-detailed is probably the right word
Another thing is the narrative. It really feels too capeshit

every mission is a timed mission

This is not true.

i love it, fun game with great workshop mods

This is a good thing.

So players would stop abusing overwatch like it happened in XCOM 1

>not enough busty sneks
Fixed

they de-sexified the chryssalids.

NuCom 1 for training roulette + not created equal
NuCom 2 for mods
XCOM for XPiratez

it a good thing tho, with timers you have to make more risks and play with more strategies and be more creative with the tools you got.
after re-playing and watching others play EU/EW I've noticed that without timers you would take more time, spam overwatch and play with the same boring strategy

Vipers made them painfully aware that they'll never have an ayylmao snake wife

So XCOM 3 - Terrors From The Deeps is released.
Should the devs ignore Chimera Squad or build upon it?

why torque isn't the main focus in art covers
