It's a nice little bit of food for thought. It's pretty easy for the average person to do evil without really thinking that they did evil and most people would rather do good if they got the chance, but I think the need to be seen doing good is covered by "pride".

Those who are called still need to be justified if they are to be glorified, if they are to find their way to heaven. Those who have faith will naturally do good works. God's grace is salvific, but we must co-operate with the grace God has gifted us with, we must "yield ourselves in obedience" to that grace. That yielding is necessarily a symptom of real agency on our part - it requires action; it engenders work of some kind.
