There was this PSP2I translation which only had screenshots and no demo whatsoever and took 6 years to release, and the obsolete Moon:RRA translation took like 9 years, so I guess anything is possible

Don't even bother trying to add a time frame, you'll only add unnecessary stress. If you're just the average tard like me.
If you want to learn it then get cracking and don't drop the ball. 3 years of about half an hour to an hour a day and I can more or less understand Amagami.

You could read Amagami after only like a year of Japanese, but you'd have to look shit up constantly.
