Vice City Stories

Don't hear much about this one. Worth playing? How's the soundtrack? Have the PSP version if that means anything.

>Worth playing?
yes
>How's the soundtrack?
good

It's annoying as hell this is stuck as a PSP/PS2 only game with no PC port. I would love proper mouse controls.

In many ways I like it more than the original game, and enjoy the improvements more.

Phil Collins storyline in this was pretty unexpected when I played this back in the day. Pretty fun overall.

cars spawning upside down is really annoying

It's good. Legitimately the worst of the PS2 era GTA games, however.
The soundtrack has some highlights, but some of it feels like it's clearly Rockstar's second (or even third) choice for that artist.

Eh, that would be Liberty City Stories. The cut-scnees and stories are so bad. It was such a mistake to not have Asuka as the lead. It could have had a theme of having characters who die in the main story be the lead characters.

And having you-know-who as the lead for Los Santos Stories.

the last soulful gta game

the story for liberty city stories is completely forgettable but it's still a fun game

LCS has far better characters and missions than VCS. It's not even close. VCS ruined Lance.

>VCS ruined Lance.

How can you ruin him? Lance was always a massive faggot who brought everyone else around him down. He brought his brother down and almost brought Tommy down. Hell, Vic and Tommy got into business together there'd be no problems.

What's the best way to play it? PCSX2 or PPSSPP.

VCS makes it way too obvious that he's a fucking idiot, dropping any sense of subtlety that VC had. I didn't realise that Lance was a complete fuck-up until VCS shoved it in my face, because I played VC when I was 11. I would much rather have figured it out by myself a decade later.

VCS is weird alternate universe anyway because so many things are different between VC and Stories. I don't get Rockstars boner for prequel games.

Vice City Stories is 1/3 bad weird story 1/3 good Vic origin story and 1/3 comfy Miami Vice ripoff

The missions are fun, the soundtrack is solid, and the little changes to Vice City are cool.

I like it a lot. I hope it gets added to PS+ so I can play it again

The least they could've done is retcon Columbian Vic in the definitive editions. Though they sucked horribly anyway.

Should I play the PS2 or PSP version?

They retcon Toni being a fat pussy in VCS
They retcon Johns daughter and much more in RDR2
They retcon Catalina’s race in SA
Hate to break it to you

PS2 version if you have actual hardware. Emulate the PSP version with the right stick mod if you’re on PC. Some user yell at me if I’m wrong

Total autistic reasoning here, but the contrast just pops in a really pretty way on the PSP. It reminds me of CSI: Miami in the way it feels baked in orange and green. Can't justify playing without a second stick though.

VCS actually made me hate Lance. Vic was doing fine as a minor crime boss and could've made it like that. But Lance kept dragging him into the drug game and that's what kept getting them into more and more shit until Vic was eventually dead.

I really liked Vic. Tied with CJ for most sympathetic protagonist.

The story sucks but the gameplay is serviceable.
The whole empire building was refreshing and made 100% the game more interesting, it can get really hard later on too, I actually 100% both this and liberty city stories twice first on PSP and later the PS2 versions.

VCS and LCS are the funnest gta games to 100%

Can some absolute autist explain all the differences between the PS2 and PSP versions?

I have five stunt jumps left on VCS and they are an absolute pain in the ass.

Minor graphical improves. A few added minor missions, stunt jumps, and rampages. Bug fixes and other changes to missions/side missions that were too difficult in the PSP edition.
