its like feeling numb then closing the game only to realise 6 hours have gone by today and you've been doing this for 20 years and haven't had fun with it in 10 years you just do it for a quick dopamine rush to pass the time
you don't want to add up all your steam hours because you know that it will be well over a year in game time, over a year of your life spent doing something you don't enjoy that gives you nothing in return

I have kids, I no longer game as all I do now is answer questions that the game will answer if my child only had a few seconds more patience and the capability to read. It'll get better but video games have become something I use to get away from my kids for a while rather than try and include them... at least until they're older and have a bit more social tact.

Playing fortnite with my kids is the most fun I’ve ever had with video games. Seeing new games through their eyes makes me love games again.

As you get older you have less time, your standards elevate and your tolerance for bullshit decreases. Unless you have the tism, in which case none of that applies and you often entrench yourself in fanboyism, becoming more annoying than any child ever could be.

You begin to buy less games and appreciate more indie stuff.

Gaming is so much better when you don't have the time for it. You, out of necessity, become a qualitative gamer. No more grinding, no more repetitive arena shit. You just seek real, personalized, quality, and suddenly gaming becomes fun again, instead of making you feel like you are wasting your life and should be in intensive care.
