Its sequel will never release.

ugly artstyle

almost all the secrets you find are boring as shit. wheres the powerups?

map traversal
simplistic boring platformershitter combat like every other game in the last 10 years (even reddit tier popular games like castlevania absolutely mogs it)
good lore but not presented fully and properly
outside of the unique atmosphere every other popular game in the genre even in modern times mogs it (dead cells)

I don't like the people that typically enjoy this game. Won't ever play it because of that.

came here to post this
i will never play anything that looks like an HD flash game

after playing it no other game in the hollowlike genre will compare

I have platinum, 112% and its one of my favorite games of all time
The combat is too simplistic for its runtime.
A lot of charms are either useless or absolutely outclassed
Economy makes no sense, has no depth and the only reason you grab all the geo you can is to dump it into the DLC NPC who gives you charms
Moving around the world is often fun but backtracking just for one unlockable after getting a new ability takes a bit too much time and isnt interesting since youre so leveled up now

Thats about it from the top of my head.

It's a boring stream game and a viewer debuff, which is important because as an inspiring streamer I can only play games that people will want to watch, I need to play games that will turn my 0 viewership into 20 viewership.

Ender Lilies had far, FAR better combat but it faded into obscurity the exact day it was released.

godhome autism challenges was shit
>t. did p5 all bindings and all radiants
Outside of basic sequence breaking which doesnt even get you that far, you are forced to go crossroads > greenpath > wastes, which lasts a pretty long while, which is fine for the start but its boring for replays (unless you go full glitch autismo that isnt even playing the game properly. That's part of why randomizer is a lot more fun, specially with randomized areas, because then the game opens up immediatelly instead of being linear for a long while.
Balance on charms can be pretty shit.
First one-two nail upgrades are arguably too big a powerspike
Not enough areas that change in lategame, such as Crossroads. Doesn't have to be just infection spreading, just any meaningful difference that showcases the world going to shit.
Radiant marmu
All Bindings marmu
Hornet screams too often

I'm trying to beat the pantheons and Grey Prince Zote keeps fucking me in the ass fucking shit boss

Ender Lilies is fucking rad I didn't follow its release closely but that's a damn shame. It has a way better aesthetic than Hollow Knight as well.

>dead cells
>same genre as hollow knight
what the actual fuck are you smoking?
also
>posting proceduraly generated areas that never change their general format, with extremely generic boring repetitive loot of which you recycle 90% of = better exploration than hollow knight
no way

i 100%ed both games btw

>First one-two nail upgrades are arguably too big a powerspike
And also the last upgrade is too powerful.
>Not enough areas that change in lategame, such as Crossroads.
Isn't it kind of the point that everything already went to shit long ago? The crossroads change only because of your actions anyway, everything else can't get worse.

literally the only reason this game is popular is because it has the popular dark style, but wihout it being a dark victorian 's*uls like' medieval world.
it has exactly 0 redemeding qualities and is just another fodder platformshitter, the same reason as why you skipped responding to those main points and went for dead cells which has infinitely more build and gameplay variety, which was my point.

Gay

>literally 1 attack that you'll use for 99% of the game
garbage

bloated, boring, highly derivative, etc. It's a safe game in a good genre, so all of it's problems stem from not doing enough to warrant you playing it over the more interesting games in the genre rather than any major game design flaws.
It's the metroidvania for people who have never played the genre before and think it's 2D dark souls.

it's not interesting or memorable despite trying and taking things from more successful titles. It fails to maintain an identity of it's own and thus only children who've never played better metroidvanias like it.

I would say the aesthetic is a mixed bag. I really dont like some of the designs and overall look of the backgrounds, but the attacks, animations, atmopshere and music are all fantastic.
Did a 100% playtrough a week ago and its such a neat little game. If it was more open and free Id play it even more

>The game is ugl-

i downloaded it earlier. it's good, not great.

the best games in this genre feel good to move around in and you can get around quickly, but even with the dash your character in hollow knight is a bit too slow and the environments are kind of boring, you can't scale platforms that quickly unless there's some later upgrade that adds to this. it's a lot of just slow, deliberate jumping in a zigzag pattern

shops feel dumb, especially with worthless shit that should just be automatic like map pins. just have shit like that be in the field. combat isn't all that good or meaningfully difficult, knockback on attack is kind of shit especially

I have no idea why people say HK looks bad. Its art is gorgeous.
The true problem is the combat because it simply isnt as in depth as you would want for a 30+ hour game, not to mention the pantheons

>save point are too spaced out and sometimes not near a boss fight
>map system is completely retarded and doesn't even start to fill in until you find the map maker in each zone, a task made harder by the lack of map
>poor pacing of gates; the game is fairly linear until you get the first few movement power ups, but then the opposite happens and the entire map opens up to you, overwhelming you
>most of the music is bland
Like, don't get me wrong, it's a very good game, but it's not perfect.

>I have no idea why people say HK looks bad.
Contrarianism

thats a very well detailed game with a really ugly artstyle, yes

You will do one attack per minute and you will enjoy it

post a pretty game

just beat the pure vessel pantheon. is there any point in going further? apparently it's every boss in the game on ascended

Weird how you have complaints for all bindings Marmu, a boss that is only dumb on radiant difficulty, and not p5 all bindings Collector which is madly overtuned.

I hear about it quite a bit. With 15,520 reviews on Steam alone we can also say it sold very well.
