This isn't about their feats, if that makes sense. It's about their individual in-universe power.
Doomguy for example is just a buff/heal bot whose ability to support his demons is carried by the tech he's using.
Contrast with Demifiend who is a dimensional threat with just his fists.

5 is too big of a mess story wise for me to recommend it. A 4A type game with these same characters wouldn't hurt it. Never ever now, I guess.
