unironically kino
I would love to kill people with that, in PUBG
why do you guys keep replying to posts made by twitter bot?
I used to create skins for CSS on fpsbanana.. They were popular, you saw people using custom skins all the time in Source games.
Now that is monitized and souless. I feel like I contributed to what gaming has become today.
My favourite knife skin was the big dildo that you whirl around, lmao.
yeah, why?
Pure soul
Lol
the amoongus devil strikes again
A Mong
holy shit
I like skins when you can earn them. Deep Rock Galactic is the best about this, IMO; all skins are obtained through in-game drops aside from a handful of DLC skins which are effectively rewards for donating to what's the friendliest live service model I've ever seen. Absolutely no MTX beyond those.
All it takes is a 'hide silly skins' option in the settings
But that would devalue the product they're selling to the piggers, so will never happen in any major game
i'm at a loss of words

There's also a fuckton of hats/armor paintjobs you can get.
*save edits them all in without any repercussions* lol!
You could do that, but I don't know, I think that's kind of lame. Earning them is part of the fun. Unless you're talking about the DLC skins, but the only DLC skins that are actually any good are the Megacorp and Dark Future packs. All the vanilla stuff is way nicer otherwise.
That's honestly way more effort than I'd ever expect from an amogus tie-in. As someone who doesn't care for the game, I'd hate to see it mixed in with something unrelated to it, but I can still recognize it as something fans would love.
As for the topic, nah. Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a fantastic example, because from a monetization standpoint, it sits at a complete opposite of Halo Infinite; entirely new armor pieces and weapon skins were released entirely for free and earned through just playing the game, with challenges only being a way to do so even faster. Despite not being driven by microtransactions to create the most gauche skins possible, you still ended up with seasons like Mythic--releasing with medieval/gladiator/viking armor that would make Hayabusa blush--or how the Xbox Anniversary items were flushed with silly water bottles and plushies strapped to the spartans. If it weren't for Infinite taking away the dev team, I'd say we'd have cat ears in-game with Halo 3 as well by now.
Simply put, people want this shit so badly that they're willing to pay for it. Thus, removing the monetary incentive to make such items just replaces it with the incentive to please the fans/masses, resulting in no real difference.
Someone post this on /k/
