It was ok, the platforming elements and the town layout helped me pretend I wasn't playing a walking simulator. I think just like many other games of its type your opinion of it will heavily depend on whether you sympathize with the protagonist or not. I did the fox's storyline because the goth lizard seemed to really just not want to be friends with me. I don't really know if I got the point. Everything that happened was because of a cult, but also a confrontation of the protagonist's mental problems, but I didn't understand how confronting the one helped her with the other.

I love it but I can never play it again thanks to the bullshit surrounding it, I used to look back on it fondly but now it's been ruined. R.I.P. Alec.

The game is about Mae ultimately and how she needs to grow the fuck up, the cult is just a ham-fisted metaphor for boomers sacrificing their children's futures for profit.

1. i'm a sucker for lovecraftian horror and this game implements it well without just being "oOoOO it's cthulhu guys so scary/funny"
2. it's a great wistful representation of dead-end american towns and the losers that live there
3. also a great story about being a loser in and of itself, struggling with identity/mental illness, stuff like that
4. the story is woven well and rewards repeat playthroughs, not just for seeing gregg/bea hangouts but how behind-the-scenes events unfold quietly before your eyes

the only thing that kind of sucks is that certain parts of mae's mental problems seem kind of personal to someone and are hard to relate to or understand where it fits into anything at all

There's a scene it Bea's route where her and Mae are asked if they are virgins, Mae is but Bea got fucked at summer camp or something like that and didn't enjoy it

Its a fine game but then it goes full twitter marxist which, regardless of whether you're full Any Forumstroon or not, is annoying. It was relatively grounded in the struggles of living in a shitty midwestern town but then it goes off the rails by the end with the stupid cult bullshit making sacrifices to a literal demon of capitalism.
I liked it, greg is best character, and for its flaws it was very nicely done for the most part.

I think Selmers is very soft and very cute.

He went from being the lead of a decently well known successful indie game to having a dead career with no real future over night when she accused him of shoving his hand up her ass and walking her around like a puppet and other stupid made up shit.
