I fucking love platformers with tight controls where you get to do crazy jumps and shit. Where you can master timing and precision controls to pull off ridiculous looking dodges and maneuvers. It's always so satisfying to master some technical movements and 'break' the game. 2D or 3D doesn't matter, just so long as the controls are fun. I could play that shit all day.

If the word 'hate' was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those thousands of feet it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for video games at this micro-instant. For games. Hate. Hate.

I love Action Games in the vein of DMC or most of Platinum Games' entries. The high octane fluidity of most their combat engines allows for the most zany, over the top, anime as fuck - action the gaming medium has to offer. They also allow for broad freedom of expression, hosting so much depth that no two players will approach the games the same way. While my tastes are multifaceted, Action Games are the only genre which consistently give me an adrenaline rush. I am also a fan of story driven games, but Action Games are so immersive to me that I can handwave a shoddy narrative. It helps that they also tend to offer quite a bit in the manner of replayability, so they're easy to pick up and play at any time.

I agree but only with 3D platformers. There are certainly great 2D platformers as well but I feel like most of them just build in an ungodly amount of instantkills to make it hard so it often just comes down to trial and error + muscle memory. Besides that I love games with open worlds that will take you quite some time on your first playthrough but can be insanely optimized on subsequent playthroughs such as dragons dogma or elden ring.

Ragdolls, gore, and decals. Just love looking at the aftermath of a firefight when these things are done right.
I love: - Combos or follow-up attacks. Short strings, the kind that open themselves for player creativeness in such a way that the player can find ways to string a combo with a combo like an air juggle or OTG or environment
- Wall running/wall jumping
- When the game delivers the intro/tutorial via gameplay and not behind a cutscene. When the tutorial doesn't lock your abilities away from you, but instead puts you in early game situations where the environment demands you experiment with the buttons and find out
- Crouching while sprinting = sliding maneuver (bonus points if it keeps momentum. BIG bonus if it increases momentum)
- Destroyable environments: Not too much, but just enough for the player to figure out you can smash an enemy through a glass window
And being the degen that I am:
- upskirts where the panties are visible and not hidden by some black abyss or awkward blocky texture skirt texture
