Will there ever be a better console generation?

Will there ever be a better console generation?

But the Saturn had a more interesting menu than the Dreamcast...

not part of this generation and it sold 3 whole units faggot

nobody cares about the shitturn, only the circlejerking and coping boomers from /vr/

What is it about the 1998-2002 period where everything feels simultaneously soulful and hopeful, yet bleak and depressing at the same time?

PS2 menu captures this the best

Everything is just too expensive to make/manufacture nowadays, there's no room for creativity anymore
>yet bleak and depressing
any examples?

>yet bleak and depressing
no?
not at all

>99% of games on Playstation/Xbox are multiplatform or *also on PC™
>Switch doesn't suffer as much from also on PC™ unlike those two but is just a glorified tablet with shitty hardware
Consoles as different entities is no longer a thing.

having 3 of your buddies at your side in a halo 3 lobby was better than the entire gen honestly, and i grew up with the ps2/ps1

Why did consoles stop looking like this?

halo? more like gaylo haha

>and i grew up with the ps2/ps1
There's your problem. Every other console was better for multiplayer.

Current generation is better. Honestly. The choice is amazing. You have PS5 for walking simulators, two flavors of Xbox for actual games, and all of these are surprisingly affordable.

the matrix

I forgot the PS2 had only 2 controller ports
the fuck were they thinking?

>Will there ever be a better console generation

Yes. Gen 4 and gen 5 were both better. Also AT LEAST the first few years of gen 7 were better (for me the whole gen was, but I realize how unpopular that is here). That said, gen 6 had SSX 3, Burnout 3, THPS 3, Power Stone, and Ninja Gaiden so it's a good gen. All of them are better than gen 8 and this gen though.

Success brings about the luxury of being vicariously morose and pessimistic. It's like the kid of a middle class couple having an emo phase.
When things go thoroughly to shit there's a need to only look at the bright side. Right now we're in a sort of bountiful but corrupt stage where things are supposed to go for the better but patently aren't, so the impulse is to put up a façade.

>Multiplayer? It will never catch on.

Definitely the gen that makes me extremely nostalgic. I miss those carefree days of just loading my backpack with spare controllers and riding to a friend's place for an afternoon of gaming. Online (PC) was interesting as well and every now and then I wonder if those old online buddies are doing well these days.

Imagine using sales as a dig against another console while defending the Dreamcast. Ur a fag.

Just goes to show how shitty the saturn sold, bud.

DnB music.
