Anyone else think, as long as you have weeklings give exp and have a back up healer, you can get good exp from shrieking forest? Since they don't actually rob or imprison you. Just get back up and keep fighting.

I know it was because I was playing a greenlander male, but in my first game ever meeting them was one of the most comfy experiences I had in this game, when the random patrols welcome you and feed you. The place kinda stuck for me after that.

i ran away and almost starved to death, met this group of dudes and i thought it was over but instead they gave me a ration and marked a settlement on the map

yes and no
you can build and live on there no problem
however each time you reload the game any npcs or creatures will be put on the floor level, which is very annoying

I usually go with Shem, it's comfy, central location, HN/UN wont bother you, relatively safe, decent crop growth

For me it's setting up in Heft and fighting off a raid every other day. It's the cannibals, holy nation, UC, fucking gorrilo bandits run across the the venge and black desert city to come here, and the bastards from that one mod pack. I don't even mine for iron because smelting the weapons and gear they drop gives me so much.

i moved there once when i had a mod that let you smith leviathan pearls into weapons that are slightly better than meitou grade shit, it was a fun experience
lost all my farmers and craftsmen when my combat team was away looting shit because a family of leviathans came through my base though, and then beak things came and ate everyone
