I work in high finance. $150k a year with bonus. The problem is getting your foot in the door and 2-3 years of constant 12-hour days plus working weekends. After that, it's smooth sailing. Now I only do 10-20 hours of real work a week although there are times when I need to do a 12 hour day to get something done ASAP but those days are rare

I work 20 hours a week, 4 hour shifts. It's comfy, I'll likely never work a full 40 hour week ever. I have a couple of thousand saved, live in our old family home and have no intention of that changing anytime soon.

I practically work for myself in the sense that when I go to work, I take care of my duties on my own without any superiors meddling.

remote jobs are extremely abundant now. also it seems that literally everyone is slacking off at them, or i'm just a godlike WFH worker because i got like 2x more work done than anyone else despite putting maybe 5 hours in every day

I wfh and make 60k but I have no idea how you're only working 2 hrs a day. I have meetings I must attend, followups and deadlines I have to make, and other responsibilities. Sure, I could just fuck off and not do that shit, but after awhile it would become pretty evident im not doing my job. Its more stressful to put off work than to just stay on top of things. Also, don't tell me you're on IT because most of my boomer friends have been in IT for well over 10 years and they were always busy, especially during s production release.
