The whole thing with the WoL is that he’s a reincarnated Ascian, so he’s got a lot more power/Aether than normal people. And that’s even more true after ShB since he’s now been rejoined with Ardbert.

Unlike other mages, Red Mages are about using internal mana to power your spells, the Red Mage questline is explicitly about a Mage trying to supercharge himself to be able to handle more Aether, even the little extra he manages makes him unstoppably powerful compared to normal people. The WoL can do that and more naturally.

It's definitely the best I've played. RDM, DRK and SAM are the most satisfying and complete quests, and RDM is much more consistently good than the other two. DRK gets a rollercoaster in HW and the SB quests only get good from about haflway through onwards. I don't think there's a single part of RDM questlines that're bad.

And there's nothing in either DRK or SAM as cool as the RDM duties. Only SAM even comes close with fighting Musosai.

Definitely is. WHM is very strong but sucks if you don't have a group to follow up on your CC, WAR is similar. RDM is amazing both with good groups and randoms, you can charge in and absolutely demolish someone, even just laying a silence on someone can be gamewinning in CC.
