Bad bosses

ITT we post badly designed bosses.

There is nothing in Malenia's design that screams "I need to heal!". She's aggressive as fuck, already has a tough moveset and her health bar isn't even that low. Fuck her healing. Bad design.

>There is nothing in Malenia's design that screams "I need to heal!".
Yes there is. Her low poise.
If she didn't have the heal, players could outlast her in a war of atrition.
With the heal, you are mostly forced to learn the timing of her attacks since you can't realisticly win a trade with her.
Malenia is genuinly one of, if not the best boss FROM has ever made.

Acquire skill

Based take. Even Sekiro's bosses can be whittled down if you're patient enough.

Malenia ain't having any of that.

>if not the best boss FROM has ever made.
>blatantly ignoring game mechanics because... just because
No thanks.

OP, there are literal women on YouTube beating Malenia. Git gud.

You say that when her Poise is so finicky, full of random hyperarmor, and she can outright just cancel out of staggers for free.

In a good game, multiple tracking combo attacks means you're supposed to block instead of dodge (slower) than even a single of those attacks. Yet in this fight you're heavily punished for blocking. Guess what this boss does the most?

Being a contrarian, when everyone from the noobs to the pros hate this boss, doesn't make you smarter, better or more interesting.

>The one boss in Elden Ring that doesn't inexplicably have infinite poise, keeping her more in line with nearly every other boss in the soulsborne series
>This makes her need healing for some reason
Elden Ring was a mistake

While elden ring has bosses that can feel unfair and frustrating, dark souls 2 has fucking dogshit bosses that are way too easy and feel like something from a ps2 game.
>The Last Giant
>Dragonrider
>Flexile Sentry
>Belfry Gargoyle
>Skeleton Lords
>Covetous Demon
>Royal Rat Authority
>Prowling Magus and Congregation
>Royal Rat Vanguard
>The Rotten
>Dragonriders
>Elana
Are some of the fucking shittest bosses in the series. I'd rather fight Malenia/Godskin duo or generic dungeon boss #218412 than any of these, because they're uninspired, easy, boring and just fucking shit. Fighting them feels like playing an indie soulslike from the depths of steam.

2nd phase is still too RNG based. If 2nd phase were fixed to be less RNG she's be a fantastic boss. 1st phase is fantastic, 2nd phase is a frustrating RNG fest that encourages you to just bum rush her and hope you nuke her before she waterfowls twice in a row.

The poise and healing are diegetic representations of her willpower, lorelet troons.

Let me guess. You watched that one youtube video calling her unfair, and decide to agree with it because you got filtered?
Guess what, he used cheats to reccord that fight. Yes, she CAN theoreticly do all those things. But she doesn't actually do it.
He used cheat engine to force certain moves out of her.
Can she cancel out of staggers for free? Yes
Does she actually do it?
No, not really.
Sure, she doesn't "play by the rules" But whcihc rules? Despite what people say, this IS NOT Dark souls 4. And she is not the only boss that bends the rules of ER. It is you that has to adapt to her. Not demand that every boss works exactly the way you want to.

>every boss should be some anime ninja flipping epic fight
I really liked the variety in bosses in DS2, including decrepit imprisoned super old giants being total pushovers. Including creatures that were so gluttonous they turned into giants slug demons being a joke that can barely hurt you.
It's an RPG, not a boss rush. It makes the world feel more real and immersive.

She does do it you fucking retard. I've witnessed her cancel out of stagger multiple times when I've fought her. She even cancelled straight out of a hard knockdown into WFD.

Fucking fromdrones.
>Muh based fromsoft can't do no wrong.
They fuck things up all the time you gutterbrained fanboy. They've been leaning further and further into a mould of "hard boss" over the years that by now they have to cheat because people are wise to their long windups, infinite stamina, flailing 75-hit combos and massive AOEs.

The little doot-y boat skeleton is one of my favorite bosses for this reason

It's their job to play videogames, they aren't autistic enough to care about whether summons are cheating like this shithole and their chat gives them tips and cheese strats

>she is not the only boss that bends the rules of ER
Name one other

There's a difference between immersion and boredom. Once you realize nothing in Drangleic (still the worst name for a Souls setting) can genuinely challenge you, the whole game melts into one miserable slog.

Never said they need to be anime flipping bullshit. The Rotten could be such an interesting boss yet it's complete shit.
>It makes the world feel more real and immersive
Bosses' AI immediately breaks the immension by how artificial their behavior feels and how their moves don't blend at all. Dodging and attacking a boss in DaS2 while managing stamina feels like playing a mobile game where you tap the screen in a particular rhythm every time you see a new pattern (move).
Other games in the series at least somehow hide it by making bosses fast as fuck, which isn't a solution either. But at least it's not that visible.

>Faggots still butthurt about DS2
